Seeking Mercy (Luke 18:9-14)
This week is the last in our series on ‘Stories Jesus told’. This week we look at the parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector. As it is half-term week, we will be having an All Age service and there will be no children’s groups running, but the service will be simple and child friendly.

News stories these days often feature calls for high profile people to be sacked or stripped of titles, because of their bad behaviour. This is sometimes referred to as ‘trial by media’ and can be targeted at celebrities, politicians or royalty, with Prince Andrew being the main target in the last week or so.

There will be games, food, craft , treats and other fun activities… So join us at St. Luke’s church (on the corner of Hollicondane Road and St. Luke’s Avenue) on Friday 31st October from 4:30-6pm.

Christianity Explored Course

This course is perfect for those who are exploring whether the Christian faith is for them, are new to faith and wanting to understand the basics or just need a refresher.

Next Sunday we will be having a visiting preacher, Steve Coneys, looking at the parable of the Persistent Widow. It will be a normal service with all the normal children’s groups running.

This week we continue our series on the stories Jesus told, with a look at one of the most famous parables of all, the Parable of the Prodigal Son. It is also a Holy Communion at St. Luke’s this week, with all the normal children’s groups running.

Rich Regret (Luke 16:19-31)

This week we will be looking at another of the stories Jesus told from Luke’s gospel, the Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus. An appropriate parable for Homelessness Sunday! We will also be hearing from Shiela Porter about the work of Myriad that supports the setting up of new worshipping communities. The normal children’s groups will be running. Harvest – Sowing for Growth (Luke 8:1-15)

This week is Harvest. We will be having an All Age service, although Sparklers will still be running. During the service we will be collecting non-perishable food for the local food bank and donations towards the work of Mercy Ships. See more information below.
