General Election Hustings – 24th June

We are delighted to announce that there will be a General Election hustings at St. Luke’s in Ramsgate. This will be held at 7:30pm on Monday 24th June. We will be livestreaming the event and welcome questions to be submitted in advance.

We have confirmed that the following will be on the panel for this East Thanet constituency hustings:

  • Helen Harrison (Conservative candidate)
  • Steve Roberts (Green Party candidate)
  • Jai Singh (Liberal Democrat candidate)
  • Polly Billington (Labour Candidate)
  • Paul Webb (Reform UK candidate)

There are also three Independent Candidates standing for election in the constituency:

However, the decision was made before knowing who would be standing in the constituency to limit the number of candidates invited to the hustings to five. This was in order to allow time for a reasonable number of questions to be asked and time for the candidates to answer the questions. Priority has been given to those candidates representing parties who have the highest ratings in the national polls.

The doors of St. Luke’s will be open from 7:00pm and light refreshments will be available from then until the start of the hustings. We will start promptly at 7:30pm.

We will use a representative sample of questions submitted by local residents. Ideally, we would like those asking the questions to ask them themselves at the hustings.

Please submit your questions by clicking this button below:

  1. Really worried about The instalation of the batteries on minster marshes size of 22 football

pitches. The Minster marshes and the adjacent Pegwell Bay area are prime wild life sites with a huge number species of birds bats and mammals. With the overhead wires and the humming will drive away and destroy this valuable wild life site. Plus the amount of mosquitoes ( Including the tiger mosquitoe with the Zika virus and the huge Asian Hornet) will be out of control. A single bat can eat thousands of mosquitoes in a night ! The SSI in Pegwell and its huge sandy bay is essential for Migratory Birds stopping to feed on the exposed sand at low tide.. Another area must be found and underground cables not overhead. The local council is against it , needs a decision by central goverment to move this plan to a less sensitive area.
